Oral Presentation Guidelines

Presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint are strongly recommended, ensuring they display well on a Windows-operating computer. If you have music, video or other Multimedia attachments in your slides, please test them in the slides desk before your session(s) to ensure the playing performance. We strongly recommended that speakers keep a USB drive to save the document and use the computer on the podium to give the presentation.

  • - It is recommended that each speaker would come to the slides desk to test the document at least 30 minutes before the session. For speakers who do not make the test, the time for copying your slides to the computer in the meeting room will be included in your presentation time.

Tips for Oral Presentation

  • - The engineer in your meeting room could help you connect your computer to the projector if you would like to give the presentation by using it. And please take an adapter and a USB drive with your slides copy as an option. Kindly note that the time for connecting your computer to the projector will be included in your presentation time.
  • - If you have audio or video attachments in your slides, please inform the staff in your session to double-check them before you start your presentation.
  • - Each computer on the meeting room podium has a timer. Please keep an eye on it during your presentation. If you run out your time, the chair of your session may inform you to push the process.
For speakers using their personal computers, the volunteer will inform them by rising their card when they have 3 minutes left and the end.
  • - If you met any problems during your presentation (like no sound, no electricity on your computer, the computer losing control or other problems), please call the volunteers and the staff in your meeting room for help.
  • - Although each meeting room has a large enough LED screen/projection screen, it would be better to keep fewer words with larger font sizes on each page of your slides. In this way, audiences who sit away from the stage will get a better view of it.
